WHO WE ARE:

We are a small group of volunteers who operate a food bank from out of the Newlands Community Centre. We provide emergency food support up to 12 per year to residents of Woodridge, Grenada Village, Newlands, and Paparangi. 

 

WHAT WE PROVIDE:

​

Our food parcels are not a regular grocery shop items. We only provide items for breakfast, and 3 meals  only.  As these are made up with items received from community donations, we do not provide branded food, personal hygiene and toiletry products, cleaning products and pet food. We may not be able to cater to dietary needs such as dairy and gluten intolerances.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

Clients/Households are eligible to receive support from one partner agency per calendar month only.  If support has already been received from another agency within the current month, further assistance is not available.

 

HOW TO REQUEST A FOOD PARCEL:

Requests for emergency food support can be made by visiting the Newlands Community Centre to complete a registration form. We do not take requests over the phone or via email.

 

FOOD BANK HOURS:

Collections are Monday 4pm, Wednesdays 1pm and Friday at 4.15pm from the Newlands Community Centre at 9 Batchelor Street, Newlands.

Please ensure you arrive on time, as our volunteers are unable to wait longer than 15 minutes after the time.  Please be aware that if you miss your collection without making contact, further support will be deferred to the following month.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO PROVIDE UPON COLLECTION:

Photo ID and proof of residence dated within the last 30 days are required upon collection.

We accept a letter or utility bill in your name and address, dated within the last 30 days.

We do not accept Tenancy Agreements, Drivers License with an address printed on it, Courier packages or Dr’s invoice as proof of residence.

• Drop food items into the collection bins at New World Newlands or the Newlands Community Centre.

• Purchase a $3 donation box at New World Newlands during your next shop.

• Donate towards the processing costs of a deer from the Game Changer Initiative

• Use our bank details listed below or through our fundraising page. We are a registered charity (CC21969) so donations over $5 are eligible for the 33% tax rebate. Please contact us if you require a receipt.
