The Lower Hutt Community Foodbank has been providing emergency food parcels since 1986. The Foodbank’s primary role is providing nutritious food to households and individuals who cannot purchase any or all of the types of food they need, when they need it, in the quantities they need it, for the length of time they need it, in a Mana enhancing way. ​​

When seeking a food parcel please bring photo ID and proof of address to your appointment. We may require a current bank statement and a letter from Work & Income regarding your food entitlements after your first visit. Terms & Conditions apply. Please visit our website for details.​

DONATE

Donating to the Foodbank is a simple and meaningful way to support local people as they try to secure reliable access to enough food for their family. Our emergency food parcels provide short term relief, with groceries for around four days. The Lower Hutt Community Foodbank is registered as a charitable entity (CC25676). All donations qualify for tax credits and receipts are issued in July after the end of our tax year (or earlier if made through Givealittle).

One off donation 

It's easy to make an individual donation on our Givealittle page here (a donation receipt is delivered straight away to the e-mail address you enter). When donating via Givealittle, please consider ticking the box to re-gift your available tax credit to us as an additional cash gift. 

You can also set up your own fundraiser page for the Foodbank on Givealittle as an individual, group, or business. This is a great way to manage fundraising events, group challenges, alternative gift options, and to honour loved ones in memoriam.

VOLUNTEER

Volunteering with us is a fun and rewarding way to make a real difference, meet great people, and build new skills. The Lower Hutt Foodbank has one paid employee, our Service Coordinator - every other role is undertaken by our wonderful team of volunteers. We urgently need volunteers to undertake the current roles:

Packing - Monday afternoons |Tuesday mornings | Friday afternoons
